How do you receive the Holy Spirit?
#1 Receive Jesus as your personal Lord & Savior
Have you accepted Jesus as your personal Lord & Savior?
If not, it's not too late, you can ask Him to come into your heart & be the Lord of your life right now!
#2 Repentance
To truly have a 'changed mind' is what repentance means.
Decide to change your mind about how you want to live your life... and decide to live your life for Christ.
#3 Ask God for His Spirit
Our God is SO good! If you ask, it will be given.
He desires for us to have His Spirit.
Ask the Lord & watch Him move.
Here are a few people in the bible that have been filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1 John the Baptist filled with the Holy Spirit.
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” (Luke 1:13-17)
John the Baptist later became that prophecy fulfillment of the 'voice in the wilderness'
The same man that was chosen to baptize Jesus Himself.
Acts 4 Peter filled with the Holy Spirit
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, “By what power or by what name have you done this?” 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: (Acts 4:7-8)
Peter was used to help a lame man be healed in Jesus name right before this.
& his boldness to preach the Christ was evidence he was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 9 Apostle Paul filled with the Holy Spirit
17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. (Acts 9:17-18)
Apostle Paul went from murdering Christians to living a life dedicated to Christ.
He had such a radical encounter with God... & never turned back from this moment in Acts 9.
There is POWER when being filled with the Holy Spirit.
What is evidence you have the Holy Spirit?
#1 Your love for Jesus!
The evidence of you singing melodies from your heart unto the Lord.
19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, (Ephesians 5:19)
#2 Your Fruit!
Fruits can be your characteristics.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. (Matthew 7:18-20)
We will know you by your fruit!
Every fruit has a root.
Are you deeply rooted in Christ?
#3 Your love for holiness
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. (Thessalonians 4:7)
We are called to live a life of holiness through the power of God's spirit.
His name is the Holy Spirit.
The spirit is holy!
22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. (Romans 6:22)
