What does it truly mean to be a disciple?
These are the words of Jesus from the bible.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)
We are called to make disciples!
There is a difference between a believer & a disciple.
A disciple has a teacher.
Rabbi = Master Teacher.
Jesus is our rabbi & master teacher.
A disciple is...
#1 A learner NOT a listener
#2 Follows a teaching
#3 A doer (Matthew 7:24-25)
#4 Imitators of their teacher
29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29)
#5 A student (disciplined)
40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. (Luke 6:40)
Are you trying to follow Jesus & be like Him?
Let's talk about the 3 marks of a true disciple:
